URGE/DETOUR

Urge by Molly McDermott / Detour by Error 404 Dance Found Collective

Urge is a duet with a jacket, or maybe a ghost. The work, created by Molly McDermott plays with gesture, instinct, and physical memory, revealing what lives in the body, what might be passed on to it. The jacket dances, conjuring up images of a ghost or the fragments left behind by someone no longer with us.

Detour is a dance-theatre work by Zaria Rajha and Mario Lemvar of Error 404 Dance Found Collective that explores life as a series of entrances, where each door opens into something unexpected. We begin our lives wide-eyed and curious, but as we move forward, our paths become layered with responsibilities, social pressures, and unforeseen challenges. These experiences compel us to navigate change, sometimes with courage, and sometimes with hesitation.

The piece explores themes of belonging, adaptability, and resilience. Some detours we choose, while others appear without warning, and we must learn to drift through them in order to continue.

Molly McDermott will facilitate a dance workshop on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 7 – 8:30 pm in the Salloum Studio at the RCA.
